from VISION of our FUTURE members Mike Roth, Katie Gibbons, Carl Shulman, Liz Bannish and Miranda Nichols’ performance during the reception:

We begin with a list of words that describe our individual work. We read the words into a speech recognition program and then take turns reading the product of the previous interpretation. Slowly the words we choose to describe ourselves meld together, leaving behind less important words and ideas and hanging on to words that we continue to pronounce with importance. As we read, our minds edit what we see to find some sense of coherence. The computer does the same as it listens, and after five rounds through the editing of each of our voices and the computer our streams of consciousness begin to align and form some elements of coherent narrative with roots in each of our individual thoughts.
